Wow! Productive day. Jordan got his feeding tube out, which is amazing. Has done awesome on feedings all day! He also is no longer taking caffeine (helps to keep heart rate up in preterm babies) and got his circumcision today. Even with all that going on gained 29 grams and is up to 4lbs 10oz. He is one amazing dude!

Jordan is doing well. Gaining weight and working on bottle feedings. He was moved to the "developmental" room tonight, not totally sure what that means, but we'll find out tomorrow!

4 lbs!

Jordan is 4 lbs 1oz! And moved into a crib. Hopefully he'll maintain his body temp overnight so it'll be official! Getting stronger each day!

Jords is up to 3lbs 12oz. I was able to visit Jordan in the evening and he was actually very awake!  Mostly during the day he is only kind of awake, see pic below (milk coma!)

Up to 3lbs10oz! Jordan had s sleepy day today so didn't get to practice much with the bottle. No big updates!

Thursday, May 12, 2016

Just a quick update! Holding at 3lbs8oz. Jordan took a bottle for the first time last night with dad and today was able to breastfeed for the first time with me.
He did great with both, but falls asleep before feedings are finished (like most babies!) and since he needs all of the calories, he gets the rest through his feeding tube. But great progress for day 1!

The good- Jordan is starting to take feeds by bottle and doing well. He is maintaining his temp well and having good alert/awake times. And he is up to 3lbs 8oz!

We are starting talks about what to do about the bleed in his brain. He may be getting a shunt placed to help drain the fluid. While scary, this may be the best option to help promote brain growth. Still a bit numb...but we'll be discussing further and get more info on Friday.

Happy Mother's Day!

I love this kiddos more than words can say! Can't wait to have them both home with me!

Jordan had a great day. His pic line was removed, so no more IV meds, he is doing timed feedings (one step closer to bottle/breastfeeding), off oxygen and coming down on his incubator temp to see if he can regulate his own temp. Which also means he is wearing clothes, which is super cute. Whew! A lot going on!

Little man had a good day. Again going up on his feeds. He is off of all of his IVs and only has a feeding tube in, which is so awesome. He is working on learning how to get his food all at once through his feeding tube, once that is well established we will have him work on bottle and breastfeeding. Pretty awesome to see his progress in this area! Sorry if TMI, but I've been pumping like crazy to try to keep up with his feedings, and cannot wait until we can actually breastfeed so I can pump less! I try not to complain because this is the one thing I can actually do that makes any difference, but let's be honest, I very much dislike doing it! But I'll keep at at as long as I need to!! Jordan is also almost to the point he is regulating his own temp,, again a big milestone! Hopefully in the next few days he will no longer have a heated incubator, and will just be in clothes (which is so stinking cute!). Also, he had his brain ultrasound today and looks like the bleed in his brain is shrinking a little bit, which is amazing. We are not out of the woods with this, and he may still need intervention (aka brain surgery) but this is the first time things have not just remained neutral and have started moving in a positive direction. So we will continue to say LOTS of prayers!

My handsome little man
Daddy and sleepy Jordy!
Too cute! (right before he had his oxygen removed, but I love this pic).

Chris and I has the rare treat to visit Jordan together this morning. I love the way Jords looks at his daddy. Our little guy is already 3lbs 7.6oz! Happy 2 weeks    Jordan!

This afternoon we dedicated to Em (who also rarely has both of us together) and planted out garden.

It's been a challenge being sure that both of our babies are having time with mommy and daddy. There is guilt when we are with one or the other. It will be a great day when both of our babes are under one roof!

Jordan

A good day. Went up again in feedings and popped while dad was holding him. Jordan was very alert and playful while Dad was with him tonight!

Wednesday, May 4, 2016

Jordan is doing well. So far each day is a small step forward. To think back to where we were a week ago to now, it feels like a lot of progress has been made. Jordan continues to go up on his feedings each day, and is tolerating it very well. He is pooping on his own (sorry if this is TMI, but is exciting for us!) which means his digestion is working well (which was a small concern at first). He is back on just a little bit of oxygen, but that should only be for a few more days. Little man is up to 3lbs 4oz, which is great! Everyone is happy with his progress, just taking things nice and slow.

I also wanted to include a pic of a carefree girl. She has been so awesome through all of this. With me being on bed rest, and now Chris and I running back and forth to the hospital, she has been a real trooper. Everyday she asks us how Jordan is doing, and tells us how she can't wait to hold him. She draws him pictures and tell stories about him She is also very caring towards me to make sure I'm feeling better too. I could not be more proud of her.

A lot of people have been asking how my recovery is going. To be honest, I don't even think about it! Which probably means I'm not resting like I should! But I did have my post op appointment today, and my BP is back to normal and c-section site looks good (oh other than being SUPER bruised) so physically I'm fine. This has been a huge emotional roller coaster, and I feel like I'm just starting to get back to my fully functioning self. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to Chris-I never would have gotten through this without him. I really do not like crying in front of people-but have been able to cry with Chris and really process all that is going on, and am so happy to have such a strong partner. I will say that I think that our marriage and relationship has only gotten stronger through all of this, so that is a positive!

Thank you everyone again for thoughts and prayers. We still have a journey ahead, but little man is a fighter!

Daddy and Jordy

Daddy got to hold Jordan skin to skin for the first time today. Jordan is still moving forward, increasing feedings and gaining weight (3.34 pounds to be exact). Keep the prayers coming!

3lbs!

Jordan is officially 3lbs, which is great. Also, now off of all oxygen and increased feedings. Right now our biggest concern is the bleed he has in his brain, which at this point is just a waiting game to see if it will go away on its own or if intervention will be needed. This could also affect Jordan developmentally, but again it is just a waiting game. So we'll take the good news for today!

Sunday, May 1, 2016

Jordan had a good day. Had his eyes wide open and active for a good while. Had a nice big poop ( yes this is exciting). They could not get his pic line in today but will try again in the next few days. He also started continuous feeds so should be getting chubby soon!!

Daily Update

Not much to report ( no news is good news). Went up a little in feedings and down a bit in O2. Tomorrow will have another head ultrasound to see how the bleed in his brain is doing- please pray for staying the same (or getting better!!). I was able to hold the little man for 3 hours skin to skin, which was so awesome.

A weekend of Jordan! Celebrating the little guy turning 8!! Can't believe it!
